Poetic Name: Kobayashi's Dragon Classification: Sugata-Ishi Provenance: Japan Size: 53 x 18.6 x 12.4cm Weight: 9.6 kg Rock Type: Calcareous Mudstone This is one of the many prized pieces in the massive viewing stone collection of Artiste Musaeum. Named after its owner, Nippon Suiseki Association Chairman, Bonsai Master, and also an owner of bonsai school and museum, Kunio Kobayashi. We also had an expert analyze our stone and and attached in the photos is his technical description about the stone: "This TANBA SHIUN SEKI is a type of sedimentary rock which is a mudstone with calcareous componenets. It is light reddish to greenish gray in color and exhibits a somewhat disturbed interbedded character. The thin cracks or fractures were filled with whitish calcite minerals. The mudstone was probably deposited in calm waters such as in deep seas, lagoons, and lakes. As the mud was deposited and buried, water was squeezed out and hardened forming the mudstone. During its process of hardening or lithification, small cracks may have appeared whereby calcite minerals were deposited. Earth movements or disturbances may have also happened, producing further fractures and displacement within the rock. As it was exposed to the surface, differential erosion took place where the inherently weak portions along former cracks were eroded further. Forming apparent linear valleys and ridges as well as the apparent necklike hanging feature of the Kobayashi viewing stone." Fun Fact: Due to its growing popularity in Japan, in 1961 Nippon Suiseki Association (NSA) began to certify important Suiseki and accessory items. #ArtisteEntertainment #artistemuseum #suisekiph For more detailed info and latest news, be sure to FOLLOW & SHARE our page @tonetbonsai in FB and if you love viewing stones, why not join our Natural Stone Society of the Philippines @NSSP .
